Description

Mohammed Amin was UK head of Islamic Finance at PwC before retirement. He was first Muslim to become a partner in the UK firm of Price Waterhouse, and served as a partner for 19 years. He has spoken on Islamic Finance on every continent except Antarctica.

Anouar Adham would be representing the Asset Management industry within Islamic Finance. He is currently the head of Asset Management at Qatar Investment Bank UK (QIB). He has extensive experience with international banks in Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East. He is a holder of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments’ Islamic Finance Qualification.

QIB UK is a subsidiary of Qatar Islamic Bank, one of the oldest and largest Islamic banks. QIB UK have recently been voted the Best Asset Manager (European) from Islamic Business & Finance award.

Philip Churchill would be representing the Islamic Real Estate industry. He is a founding partner at 90 North Real Estate Partners LLP. He has specialised in Islamic real estate for the last ten years, he was formerly Executive Vice President, Head of Real Estate at Gatehouse Bank in London. He started his career with Citigroup in the Risk Management department, becoming Risk Manager for the Austrian, French and Italian banks that Citigroup worked with, before moving into Citigroup Property Investors, successfully launching and investing two European Shari’ah compliant real estate funds in joint ventures with Gulf investors. He is a holder of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments’ Islamic Finance Qualification.

90 North Real Estate Partners is an independent real estate investment advisory firm, serving clients wishing to invest in Shari’ah compliant manner. With over 1.1 billion of Shari’ah compliant real estate transactions conducted with Gulf investors over the last ten years. 90 North was founded with James Caan’s property business, HB Real Estate.

Harris Irfan is Managing Director at European Islamic Investment Bank (EIIB) and is responsible for investment banking. He has been front office (both conventional and Shari'a compliant) for 19 years, including 11 years with Deutsche Bank spanning corporate and project finance, capital markets, structured products and private equity. He was also formerly global head of Islamic finance at the Barclays Group and a founding member of Deutsche Bank's world leading Islamic finance team, from where he was seconded as CEO to Dar Al Istithmar.

EIIB is the first Islamic investment bank to be floated on the London stock exchange. EIIB seeks to service a market for Sharia’a compliant investment banking services in Europe, the Middle East and Asia that it believes has been under-exploited by conventional and Islamic banks, and by non-banking institutions.
