Background

Charles Baden-Fuller is the Centenary Professor of Strategy and leader of the Strategy Group at Cass, ranked Global Top Ten by the Financial Times MSc survey of 2009 and top ten by the Financial Times MBA survey of 2011. He is famous for his strategy insights into the management of mature firms written up in many academic articles and his (coauthored) Harvard Business Press 'Rejuvenating the Mature Business'. He is also well known for his work on networked organisations and the management of young high technology firms, particularly in drug development-biotechnology. His current research examines two issues:
High-Technology: How young firms can grow successfully
___Funding of high growth, especially in UK
___Business Models for successful growth
___How to replicate success

Hedge Funds: Connectivity
___Why some kinds of connections among hedge funds lead to inferior performance

Charles Baden-Fuller has undertaken consulting assignments on strategy and mergers for large and small firms, and currently serves as director or advisor to several young high-tech firms. He combines this with being a senior fellow at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Charles Baden-Fuller has published more than 80 academic articles and in the last few years raised more than £2 million for research from the EU, and the UK ESRC and EPSRC. From 1999 to 2010, he was also Editor-in-chief, a leading international strategy journal read by practitioners and academics. His honors include being made an SMS Fellow in 2010. Before becoming an academic, he worked at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.
