Background
Before joining Cass in 2011, Peter F. Pope previously held academic positions at Lancaster University Management School, Strathclyde Business School and Liverpool University. He has also been visiting professor at the Stern School, New York University, the University of California at Berkeley, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Chinese University Hong Kong, Monash University and Macquarie University.
He has researched and published extensively in the areas of capital markets, financial reporting and international equity valuation. His current research interests are focused on IFRS implementation in Europe, global equity market anomalies and fundamental valuation models, with particular reference to the links between financial statement factors, risk and equity returns. He was the Scientific Coordinator of the EU-Funded INTACCT Research and Training Network 2007-2010 and has held numerous other research grants.
His research has received several prestigious awards including the 2008 Best Paper Award 2004-2008 from the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association.
His industry roles include having been Head of the V-Lab research programme at Old Mutual Asset Managers in London from 2006-2010 and Head of Investment Research at Mitsubishi Finance International in 1991. He has also served as the Academic Coordinator of the Institute of Quantitative Investment Research (UK) from its formation in 1991-date.
He is a qualified accountant and was a member of the U.K. Accounting Standards Board Academic Panel.
He is joint-editor of the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and has served on the editorial board of many other international journals.
